Universal Audio (UA) now has quite an arsenal of reverb pedals in its UAFX line. Although they all use the same high-quality algorithms, they differ considerably in versatility and specific focus.

Here is an overview of the main differences between the current models:

1. UAFX Golden Reverberator (The Flagship).

This is the “all-rounder” for lovers of classic sounds. It focuses on the most iconic reverb units in history.

  • The Sounds:

    • Spring 65: The best emulation of a Fender amp reverb.

    • Plate 140: Classic studio plate (EMT 140).

    • Hall 224: The famous digital reverb from the 1980s (Lexicon 224).

  • Features: Full control over decay, pre-delay and modulation. Has presets and full stereo I/O.

  • Ideal for: Guitarists seeking the highest quality traditional reverbs in one pedal.

2. UAFX Del-Verb Ambience Companion.

This pedal is a “Greatest Hits” combination of reverb AND delay.

  • The Sounds: Contains the most popular algorithms from the Golden (Spring, Plate, Hall) and combines them with the delay engines from the Starlight (Tape, Analog, Precision).

  • Feature: You can use one reverb and one delay at a time. It is simpler in terms of buttons (no deep menus or complex modulation settings).

  • Ideal for: People who want to save space on their pedalboard and seek “set-and-forget” settings for ambience.

3. UAFX Heavenly Plate Reverb (Compact Series).

This is a more compact, less expensive pedal that focuses on one thing.

  • The Sound: Purely focused on UA’s Plate 140 algorithms.

  • Feature: No stereo input, no presets via footswitch, but still the exact studio quality of the great Golden Reverberator.

  • Ideal for: The purist who only needs an insane Plate reverb and has less space/budget.

4. UAFX Evermore Reformed Hall (Compact Series).

Like the Heavenly, but for digital reverb.

  • The Sound: The “Hall 224” algorithms (Room, Small Hall, Large Hall).

  • Feature: Compact, mono input, focused on that grainy, atmospheric digital reverb of the ’80s.

  • Ideal for: Lovers of vintage digital reverb looking for a simple pedal.

Which one should you choose?

  • Looking for the ultimate spring reverb and classic studio plates with maximum control? Go for the Golden.

  • Want a compact solution for Plate only or Hall only? Choose the Heavenly or Evermore.

  • Want to be ready for both delay and reverb in one fell swoop? Then the Del-Verb is the best choice.
