SE Electronics T2: The Microphone for the Very Fastest Details
The SE Electronics T2 is the “high-performance” brother of the well-known sE4400. Whereas most condenser microphones use gold on their diaphragms, the T2 uses a layer of titanium. Titanium is stiffer and lighter, resulting in a capsule that responds much faster to sudden sound spikes (transients). The result? Unparalleled clarity and an “instant” sound that never softens or smears.
Why Titanium makes a difference
When you record instruments with a very bright attack – think of the stick on a snare, the plectrum on an acoustic guitar or the hammer on a piano string – every millisecond counts. The T2 captures these peaks with a precision that gold membranes simply cannot match. This gives your mix more depth and definition without the need for extreme EQ.
Maximum Versatility
Like the sE4400, the sE Electronics T2 is a true “Swiss army knife” in the studio:
Four Directional Characteristics: Switch effortlessly between Cardioid, Hypercardioid, Omnidirectional and Figure-8 for every conceivable recording situation.
Dual Pad & Filter: With the -10dB/-20dB pads and the 40Hz/80Hz low-cut filters, you maintain full control over gain structure and low-end reproduction, even with extremely loud sources.
Slim Profile: The flat design allows you to place the microphone very close to the sound source (close-miking), which is ideal for guitar amps or drum heads.
Hand-built Craftsmanship
Each sE Electronics T2 capsule is handcrafted and individually tuned at sE Electronics’ factory. The all-metal housing and rugged finish ensure that this microphone will withstand years of intensive studio use with ease.
Ideal Applications:
Drums & Percussion: Perfect for snare, toms and overheads.
Piano: Captures the percussive side of the hammers beautifully.
Acoustic Instruments: For extra definition with guitar, banjo or mandolin.
Vocals: For singers who like a modern, detailed “up-front” sound.
