Black Lion Audio took an industry-standard design and drew on the expertise we’ve developed over the years by customizing and improving recording equipment. Sound quality is always the top priority in a BLA design. We took special care in designing the power filter circuit in the PG-1. We selected top-of-the-line Panasonic and Wima capacitors because of their superior performance in eliminating high-frequency noise that robs equipment of its peak performance. Combined with an outstanding power absorption capacity of 2,775 joules to protect against power surges, the Black Lion Audio PG-1 is truly the king of the jungle.
The Black Lion Audio PG1 is a rack-mountable power conditioner. It features a set of eight switched, filtered, and surge-protected outlets on the rear panel. Two filtered convenience outlets and a 3-pin XLR tube connector are located on the front panel. A convenient LED display on the front panel provides a constant reading of the AC voltage from the power source, as well as five LED indicators to show whether grounding, polarity, noise filtering, AC voltage, and surge protection are all functioning properly. The outlets are individually optimized for digital, analog, and high-power devices, as indicated on the rear panel. A two-stage power-on and power-off system is also implemented in the Black Lion Audio PG1. The outputs labeled “High Power” feature a time delay and are designed for your speakers or power amplifier to ensure they are the last to turn on and off.

During testing, this resulted in an average noise filtration rate of 99.7%, compared to the typical average of 85% found in other power conditioners in the same price range. The PG-1 features a set of eight switched, filtered, and surge-protected outputs on the rear panel—organized into four groups (digital audio x2, analog audio, and high current). The High Current outputs are time-delayed, so you can always be sure that your speakers and power amplifiers are the last to turn on and the first to turn off —this prevents the dreaded “pop” that can occur when speakers are powered up at the same time as your audio sources. The PG-1 also features two filtered convenience outputs and an XLR lamp connector on the front panel.
