The AKG C414 XLS: The Ultimate All-rounder for Professionals

Since the introduction of the original C414 series, AKG has been the benchmark for transparency and precision. The AKG C414 XLS (EAN: 9002761025910) continues this tradition. This large-diaphragm condenser microphone is designed to capture the smallest nuances without coloring the sound, making it ideal for critical recordings where fidelity is paramount.

Key Features:

  • 9 Directional characteristics: Switch effortlessly between omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, figure-8 and four intermediate modes.

  • Maximum Control: Features three switchable bass-cut filters (40Hz, 80Hz and 160Hz) and three pre-attenuation pads (-6dB, -12dB, -18dB) for high sound pressure recordings.

  • Lock Mode: Prevent unwanted changes to settings during live use or fixed installations.

  • Peak Hold Indicator: An LED indicator that visually displays even the shortest overloads (clipping).

Why choose the C414 XLS?

Unlike the XLII variant (which has a slight presence boost), the XLS version is completely flat and neutral. This makes it the favorite for recording acoustic instruments, strings and overheads. The microphone comes in a complete kit including a metal carrying case, pop filter, windshield and the H85 universal shockmount.

Technical Specifications:

  • Frequency range: 20 Hz to 20 kHz

  • Equivalent noise level: 6 dB-A

  • Maximum SPL: 140/146/152/158 dB (depending on pad setting)

  • Connection: XLR-3
