Whatever music you make and whoever you are as a music maker, there is always more to discover in Ableton Live. See how to proceed with Live 12.
Apply all kinds of simple or complex variations to your MIDI clips with the new MIDI Transformations. Add ornaments and articulations, draw acceleration and deceleration curves, connect successive notes and chords, simulate the attack of a guitar and much more.
Generate inspiration
Conjure up melodies, chords and rhythms with the help of new MIDI Generators. Set constraints and let the Generator of your choice create playful and original ideas that you can develop and turn into your own.
Do more with Max for Live
Try additional Max for Live Transformations and Generators that give you deeper ways to work with MIDI, or go even further by building new ones.
Embrace and explore moods
Follow your preferred ballots or try different ballots more easily. Work beyond 12-tone equal temperament and use tunings with Live devices and any MPE-compatible plugin.
Staying in key
Choose a scale in Live’s Control Bar to see its notes in every MIDI clip you create. Transform or generate ideas within the limits of the selected scale or synchronize the scale of MIDI devices and instruments with the clip being played.
MIDI easier editing
Use keyboard and mouse operations to edit MIDI in new ways. Split a note in half or divide it into several parts. Select a series of notes and merge them, or have them fill a selected time range. In addition, you can access more tools from the Note Utilities panel on the left, such as Fit Scale, Humanize, Add Intervals and more.

More flexible modulation
Stay in control of a parameter even after it has been assigned to a modulation source; with Max for Live devices such as LFO, Shaper and Envelope Follower, you can now freely modify a destination being modulated.
