EVO 16 audio interface
British audio concern EVO by Audient is pleased to announce the launch of the latest product in its range: the EVO 16. A 24 in / 24 out Audio Interface, this latest release features eight award-winning EVO Preamps, advanced converter technology and the ingenious Smartgain function that can be used on all 8 channels simultaneously, while continuing to deliver on the EVO promise to make recording easy. ‘.
new audio interface designed to fit both desktop and rack. “The EVO 16 offers the intuitive user experience, professional sound and technical quality you’d expect from parent company Audient, with far more I/O than its smaller counterparts. And yet it still fits firmly into the ‘affordable’ audio category. interfaces.”
The EVO 16 audio interface breaks with convention thanks to the high-resolution color screen built into the device. “With our all-new Motion UI (user interface) operating system, we’ve found a new way of doing things,” explains Andy. Motion UI uses the wide-angle screen to intelligently display information about your session when you need it, making every interaction with the EVO 16 a fully immersive, easy-to-use experience — more akin to what you’d expect when using a Smart device, without having to dive deep into the menu to activate functions.
“The Motion UI works alongside the EVO 16’s hardware buttons, providing a centralized, one-button operating system that allows customization of all of the EVO 16’s hardware parameters,” continued Andy. “Simply put, every adjustment is reflected on the screen in real time, allowing the user to make changes in the blink of an eye and take full control of the recording session without ever looking at the computer.”
As with the smaller EVO products, the EVO 16 features the Smartgain function, which automatically adjusts the gain at the push of a button. “The added bonus of the EVO 16 is that it can automatically set the gain for all 8 channels simultaneously, ideal for drummers who have multiple mic inputs and synthesizers that require a lot of line inputs,” explains Andy. “Smartgain is designed to take the guesswork out of setting gain.
It not only saves time for the user, but it also eliminates the hassle for those working alone, meaning users can spend less time figuring out the technique and more time recording. “Smartgain: “automatically sets the gain for all 8 channels at once”
The EVO 16’s 8 EVO Preamps offer 58dB Mic Gain, while its advanced converter technology provides a dynamic range of a whopping 121dB, delivering professional audio performance across the board.
There’s also room for expansion with numerous optical inputs and outputs, making it possible to record everything from just drums to a full band. To ensure the studio can grow with the times, there are both ADAT and SPDIF options to add up to 16 additional channels of mic preamps.
Compatible with MacOS and Windows, the EVO Mixer software offers further options for setting up and routing inputs and outputs, ultra-low latency monitoring and much more. The carefully designed solid steel chassis with non-slip rubber feet means the EVO 16 fits comfortably on a desktop, under a laptop or installed in a rack with the optional rack ears.
