PASSIVE BAND MICROPHONE
The GA R1 MKII is a premium vintage style ribbon microphone. It offers the unique and natural sound that was available in classic microphones such as the RCA 44 and 77, which are still used to make high quality recordings after almost 70 years.
The R1 Mk2 is well suited for recording most sound sources such as vocals, acoustic instruments, strings, horns, orchestras and choir groups and many live sound applications.
The figure-8 pattern of the R1 MKII allows you to separate sound sources by placing the unwanted ones in the side-zero pickup directions. Placing the unwanted ones to the sides of the R1 MKII removes most of the direct sound from the sound source. However, the R1 MKII still picks up that source from the reflective field in the recording room.
Due to the narrow width of the ribbon, the horizontal recording pattern is very wide. It is much wider compared to a condenser microphone with a large capsule.
