sE Electronics V7 X: Power and Detail for Every Instrument
Where the standard V7 is optimized for vocals, the sE Electronics V7 X is specifically tuned for instruments. Whether you want to capture the “crack” of a snare drum, the growl of a bass amp, or the definition of an acoustic guitar, the V7 X delivers faithful reproduction with just that little extra energy your recording needs.
Why the V7 X is different from other dynamic microphones
The secret of the V7 X lies in the DMC7 X capsule. Unlike most dynamic microphones that use copper coils, sE uses an aluminum voice coil. This lighter material allows for a much faster response to fast hits (transients), resulting in an open and airy high that you would normally expect only from condenser microphones.
Impressive Low-End: The capsule is tuned to pick up low frequencies with more authority, making it ideal for toms, brass and electric guitars.
Supercardioid Isolation: The tight recording pattern gives you maximum control over your source. You have less “bleed” from cymbals or other instruments, making the mixing process considerably easier.
Patented Shockmount: The internal suspension effectively decouples the capsule from the housing. As a result, you won’t hear annoying tapping or hand sounds when the microphone is on a tripod or on a drum clamp.
Built for life on the road
The V7 X is “tour-ready.” The all-metal housing is made of high-quality zinc alloy, and the beveled steel grill keeps the microphone from rolling away when you place it on an amplifier. In addition, the grill is dent-resistant and corrosion-free.
Applications:
Drums: The ultimate snare drum microphone (both top and bottom).
Electric Guitar: Captures the pressure of a cabinet without the sharpness.
Wind: Ideal for saxophone and trumpet thanks to the high SPL load capacity.
