Acoustic foam is delivered in compressed form, so you can save up to 75% of shipping costs, because most carriers calculate shipping costs based on the size of the package. Therefore, after the package is unpacked, it takes a while for the acoustic foam to become flat, fill with air and assume its original shape and appearance.
Acoustic polyurethane foam has what are called pores. These pores are formed by foaming the material to the desired density and they can be of different sizes. This is a normal phenomenon in acoustic foam. The number of pores can be as much as 1% of the total surface area.
