Korg ARP 2600 M is a remake of the classic semi-modular synth

A smaller and more portable version of the ARP 2600 FS

The Korg’s ARP 2600 M is a scaled down remake of the classic semi-modular synth
A smaller and more portable version of the ARP 2600 FS
Korg’s ARP 2600 FS was a loving and authentic reboot of the famous old synth, but it wasn’t accessible to everyone. For starters, it was huge in size, and then there was the hefty price tag. Oh, and good luck getting one too, it was very limited

We expect the ARP 2600 M to solve all these problems. This equates to a more manageable 60% of the size of the original, making it lighter, more portable, and not as limited in production as its brother.

Inside, however, you have the same analog circuitry as the ARP 2600m FS, so it should sound just as good. There is a slight difference with the spring reverb – it has been redesigned and adapted to the smaller housing but offers the same lush effect promised.

The ARP 2600 M is a true sonic playground, with oscillators, envelopes, a filter and an amplifier that can be patched together. Other features include ring modulation, lag and voltage processors, an envelope follower, audio preamp, a clock switch, noise source, a sample-and-hold module, signal converters, an additional mixer, and a set of parallel-wired/multi-jacks.

The synth does not come with a keyboard, but you can connect any class compliant MIDI controller.

It is no coincidence that the ARP 2600 is so wildly popular to this day.
The ARP 2600 M is more than a synthesizer, it’s a complete sound design studio. Even today, the ARP 2600m bridges the gap between the individual elements of modular synthesis and the immediacy of a production/performance instrument.

Included are an ample supply of oscillators, envelopes, a filter and amplifier – all building blocks of analog synthesis. But the ARP 2600 M goes even further, with a spring reverb tank and even a pair of built-in monitor speakers. Also present is much of the versatility of a vintage modular system, including ring modulation, lag and voltage processors, an envelope follower, audio preamp, a clock switch, noise source, a sample-and-hold module, signal converters, an additional mixer, and even a set parallel wired / multi jacks.

Added features and functionality
The new ARP 2600 M is not only faithful to the original, it also includes a series of additional functions that make use even easier:

– Plug and play: Connect any class compliant MIDI controller such as a KORG microKeys, nanokeys or SQ-64 to one of the ARP 2600M’s USB ports (USB-A and USB-B) and get full full automatically control your instrument!

– Resized: The new format makes it easier to visualize your patch and also allows you to use shorter patch cords

– Added two types of filters of two versions of the original ARP 2600 (4012 type, 4072 type DIN MIDI IN

– Pitch bend, Modulation and Portamento ON/OFF can be controlled via MIDI CC messages (USB/DIN MIDI)

– Normalized Voltage: The threshold of the trigger signal required to activate the ADSR through the S/H GATE JACK has become 5V, making it much easier to use in conjunction with other equipment such as volcas or Eurorack modules

– Improved attack and release time ratios

– L/R stereo output (instead of XLR)

– Speakers turn off automatically when using headphones

– Improved smoother sliders
