What’s new with the X1 S from the vocal pack?
Earlier this year we introduced the X1 S – an update to one of our best-selling microphones of all time. The original X1 and the new X1 S may look the same from the outside, but what makes this mic so special, and why did we decide to make it even better?
The original sE X1 had a single low-cut filter (at 200Hz) and a single damping pad (-10dB). While the inclusion of these features was enough to give it a leg up on the competition, we decided to make the mic even MORE usable this time around – so we doubled both.
The new X1 S from the sE Vocal Pack now features two low-cut filters, with carefully chosen frequencies of 80 Hz and 160 Hz, dramatically increasing tone-shaping capabilities and usability on a wider variety of voices and instruments. With these passive filter options, you can now reduce unwanted low frequencies with greater precision than before.
The X1 S also has two damping pads at -10dB and -20dB. This allows for an increase in dynamic range and SPL processing, taking the maximum SPL from 135dB (with the original X1) to a really massive 160dB – more than enough to handle the loudest brass or percussion without your connected mic preamp or interface overload. This means much less distortion and much more sound.
